Postdoctoral position in molecular qubit development and quantum computing
Dear Colleagues,
A postdoctoral position, funded by the US Department of Energy, working in the group of Eric R. Hudson at UCLA is available. This project is one thrust of a larger collaboration involving chemists and physicists at UCLA, USC, Caltech, and Harvard. The team is working to develop molecules for use as qubits in a new type of quantum computer (see e.g. https://journals.aps.org/pra/abstract/10.1103/PhysRevA.98.040302).
The postdocās project will seek to discover molecular ions with vertical Franck-Condon factors, so that lasers can be used for state preparation and measurement of the qubit states. The postdoc will primarily work with
- Lasers and optics
- Vacuum hardware
- Cryogenic molecular beams
Knowledge of these techniques are desired, but not necessary if an applicant is otherwise qualified.
The postdoc will also interface with a team of theoretical quantum chemist who are applying state-of-the-art theoretical methods to predict and characterize new candidate molecules. The ability to communicate with quantum chemists is desired for the candidate.
Interested candidates should email Eric Hudson at [log in to unmask] The position is open immediately.
Sincerely,
Eric Hudson
