Symmetries, asymptotics and multi-scale approaches
Friday 30 November 2018, 10:00am - 06:00pm
At the Royal Statistical Society, 12 Errol Street, EC1Y 8LX London
One important feature in many multi-scale models is the presence and quantification of some kind of symmetries, either of scaling type or the ones given by spatial actions which allow to reduce the complexity of the models, often in a quantitative/quantifiable way. Our main goal in this meeting is to allow a mutual inspiration between pure and applied mathematicians, by highlighting differences and parallels in the appearance of the above principles and phenomena in varied fields.
The following leading researchers have agreed to give talks in the workshop:
* Mark Girolami (Imperial College London)
* Martin Hairer (Imperial College London)
* Pronob Mitter (Université de Montpellier)
* Clement Mouhot (University of Cambridge)
* Grigoris Pavliotis (Imperial College London)
* Balint Toth (University of Bristol)
The workshop is organised by the RSS Applied Probability Section.
Registration is free for RSS members and costs £25 for non-RSS members. The registration fee will cover lunch and refreshments throughout the day for all registered participants.
