I think Christine's idea of a one day workshop is excellent but I would be concerned that international delegates might not be able to stay an extra day. Could we do both? Start with a conference workshop or a pre-conference or post-conference session of a couple of hours (either a late supper meeting if pre-conference or breakfast meeting if post conference to fit with people's travel plans). This could be a brainstorming session and dependent on the number of people wanting to participate, we could run it like several PBL groups and then combine at the end to create a statement of intent. Later we could organise working groups in different locations. Foreign delegates would go home with the intention of creating a working group and then those working groups would liaise. We could come up with some clear startegies and guidelines about how to move the agenda of physiological birth forward. Of course part of that agenda needs to be the education of midwives who really understand and support physiology and have the opportunity to work with mentors experienced in (and yes, I will say it) normality. wishes
