Dear Colleagues
We’d like to invite you to consider submitting abstracts for an exciting upcoming event, a symposium entitled “The growth of Laurentia: recent advances in reconstructing metamorphosed, deformed and deeply eroded continental margins” to be held at the GAC-MAC-IAH meeting, Quebec City in May 2019.
This Symposium will focus on topics related to the tectonic history and configuration of the edges of Paleo- and Mesoproterozoic margins of Laurentia and proto-Laurentia. We welcome contributions from researchers working on the interactions of various cratonic blocks within Laurentia; on accretion, collision and orogenic development within the continental interior and particularly along the present-day outer margins.
The symposium is lead by Deanne van Rooyen ([log in to unmask]) (Cape Breton University, Sydney NS), David Corrigan (Geological Survey of Canada, Ottawa ON), and Aphrodite Indares (Memorial University, St. John’s NFLD).
The Geological Association of Canada, the Mineralogical Association of Canada, and the International Association of Hydrogeologists are holding a joint meeting in Quebec City, May 12-15 2019, under the theme “Where geosciences converge”. Quebec City is the birthplace of French society in North America, a vibrant cultural and academic center and a wonderful place to visit for a conference showcasing exciting geological research. Abstract submission will begin in November 2018 to the end of January, and online registration will open in March 2019. There is a series of field trips (http://gacmac-quebec2019.ca/en/field-trips/) available to showcase some of the geology in the region, many exciting sessions and symposia (http://gacmac-quebec2019.ca/en/symposia/; http://gacmac-quebec2019.ca/en/special-sessions/) as well as short courses and social events.
We hope you will consider contributing to this symposium, we look forward to exciting presentations and discussion on advances in research!
Deanne, David, Aphrodite
