Inside the History of Learning Disability
The Brain Charity and Dr. Owen Barden from Liverpool Hope University are starting an exciting new history project. We would very much like you to take part.
The Project
We will be looking at very old medical books to see how people used to think about and talk about people with learning difficulties a long time ago. We will compare what people said then with what we know about living with learning disability today. We will use our own words and pictures to say what we feel about what we find. We will make a website and put the things we make on it for other people to see.
What will my participation in the research involve?
• Coming to four workshops with other people from the group
• Exploring words and pictures in very old medical books
• Talking about the books with others in the group
• Making things to say what you feel about the books
• Helping decide what we put on our project website
How do I get involved?
• Tell Janet Ireland that you want to take part
• Tel 0151 298 3285 or 298 2999
• email [log in to unmask]
• Come to the first workshop at 10am on Tuesday 27th Nov
