Next year is the 50th anniversary of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine MSc Medical Statistics: the first students graduated in 1969 when Peter Armitage was Professor of Medical Statistics.
To celebrate this anniversary, we are holding a 2-day symposium on 11-12 April 2019.
We are delighted that many distinguished speakers and discussants have agreed to take part (including School alumni and current faculty) in addressing a wide range of topical issues in medical statistics. The symposium will include sessions on clinical trials, epidemiology, estimands, and various other hot topics, and will conclude with a panel discussion on the state of the profession.
Michael Hughes (Harvard University) will give the Bradford Hill Memorial Lecture on 11 April.
Other speakers confirmed so far include: Shadrac Agbla, Deborah Ashby, Nicky Best, James Carpenter, Rhian Daniel, Nick Jewell, Ruth Keogh, Alan Phillips, Stuart Pocock, Linda Sharples, Liam Smeeth, Jonathan Sterne, Jenny Thompson.
Details of the scientific programme and how to register are available at https://www.lshtm.ac.uk/newsevents/events/symposium-celebrate-50-years-msc-medical-statistics
