The Department of Psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Associate or Assistant Professor position in the research track.
Responsibilities include development of a research program that includes synergistic interaction with other basic and clinical researchers. Applicants must have an M.D. and/or Ph.D degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in research. The successful applicant will have substantial experience in the field of neuroimaging and interest in contributing to projects that incorporate neuromodulatory strategies, in particular Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). Other techniques such as ECT, VNS, biofeedback with a focus on task-based and resting state fMRI are also of interest, particularly in conjunction with TMS. Responsibilities include collaborative and independent research on fundamental properties of neural networks, neuroplasticity, and the application of computational techniques to interrogate brain circuitry in psychiatric disorders. Ultimately the goal is the development of prognostic biomarkers and treatment targets through understanding the underlying pathogenesis of neuropsychiatric disorders.
The candidate must have demonstrated excellent qualifications in research in neuroimaging, neuromodulatory techniques, cognitive neuroscience and/or translational research. Must have at least 4 years (Assistant)/ 7 years (Associate) experience conducting research in the area of neuroimaging in psychiatric populations. A track record of publications and NIH funding in this area is expected. Competitive candidates will have strong programming and computational skills.
