A nice opportunity for a Professor post in Oxford, working alongside some great people (include the Health Experience Research Group) in a department of primary care which has a social science strategy. I'd be happy to discuss with potential medical sociologist applicants
Associate Professor of Social Science in Qualitative and Mixed Methods Health Research<https://www.phc.ox.ac.uk/about/work-with-us/job-opportunities/#acc-19a5bd84-33fe-41ca-a072-e4eabd17430f-2>
Closing Date: Fri Nov 23 2018 12:00:00 GMT+0000 (Greenwich Mean Time)
Grade 36: £47,263 - £63,463 p.a.
Applications are invited for the Associate Professorship of Social Science in Qualitative and Mixed Methods Health Research, to start as soon as possible. The post is based in the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, with a fellowship at Green Templeton College. The appointee will join a College which offers a distinctive, friendly and supportive atmosphere and a thriving Department which excelled in the 2014 REF and leads world-class research and training to rethink the way healthcare is delivered in general practice and other primary care settings, both across the UK and globally.
As a leading authority in your field, you will demonstrate a sustained career of leading research and possessing breadth and depth of specialist knowledge. You may already be a Professor at another University, and will have a national and international profile in your field.
You will provide senior research leadership both within your research team and in the department more broadly, and will lead the development of new areas for research and innovation in methods and theory. You will also be expected to teach in relevant areas, and will bring a strong track record of successful teaching and supervision as well as evidence of substantial contributions to research methods and social science theory and practice.
The department is a dynamic, top-ranked, centre of primary care research. We are looking for a senior social scientist who will play a key role in establishing collaborative national and international research initiatives. You will have a strong and consistent track-record of publishing high-quality outputs and excellent communication skills, including the ability to represent the University and the research to national and international audiences including policy-makers, academics, clinical practitioners and members of the public.
Green Templeton College's intellectual agenda and distinctive academic profile emphasise issues relating to human welfare and social, economic and environmental well-being in the 21st century. The disciplines of our academic and student members cover health and medical sciences; business and management; and a broad range of social sciences, including education, environmental sciences and social policy. The affiliation as a Research or Senior Research Fellow provides an opportunity for active involvement in the intellectual and social life of the College. There is an expectation that Fellows will act as College Adviser for a small number of postgraduate students.
