The next meeting of the East Midlands group of the Archives and Records Association will be held on the afternoon of Monday 29 October at the Theatre Royal in Nottingham. We are pleased to welcome:
• Jo Robinson from the Centre for Regional Literature and Culture to discuss the HLF-funded Theatre Royal Archive project;
• Karen Millhouse, Archivist at Derbyshire Record Office, who will talk about her experiences of working with the HLF on an archive-outreach project;
• Shane Downer, Heritage Officer at Milton Keynes Borough Council will review the MK50 project, introduce the alternative European capital of culture Plan B building in the city, and hopefully some other news too; and last but not least
• Peter Lester, currently undertaking a PhD at the University of Leicester, will discuss his work in Exploring Archive Exhibitions
Refreshments will be available from 12.45pm with the first speaker kicking off at 1pm. The afternoon will finish with the usual business meeting, and close around 4.30pm. You are very welcome to just turn up but if you are able to let me know in advance if you are hoping to come along this would be much appreciated (please email [log in to unmask]). Non-members are also welcome to join us to see what it is all about.
For those wishing to socialise over lunch beforehand, we will meet in Yarn on the ground floor of the Theatre Royal from around 12noon.
The region produces a newsletter to coincide with each meeting. If you would like to send an office report, have attended a training course recently, worked on a particularly interesting collection or project, or have anything else you would like to share, please do send it through, we’d love to hear about it. Please send your contributions to [log in to unmask] by Wednesday 24 October.
