Hi all,
There are a small number of slots remaining for the next round of peer reviewer training, so we would welcome further expressions of interest in becoming a peer reviewer for Archive Service Accreditation in England.
ARA has updated its website, so the link to find out more and how to express interest is now: https://www.archives.org.uk/what-we-do/archives-service-accreditation/peer-reviewers.html.
Best,
Melinda

Subject: Archive Service Accreditation: opportunity to become a peer reviewer
The Archives and Records Association, which manages the recruitment and training of peer reviewers for England, would like to hear from archivists or those with experience in the archives sector who would like to join the pool of peer reviewers.
Under Archive Service Accreditation (http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/accreditation), some home nations work with peer reviewers when conducting their site validation visits. This is an exciting learning, development and improvement opportunity, not only for the organisations receiving the outcomes of peer review, but also for the peer, the peer's organisation and the archives sector as a whole. Peer reviewers learn skills which can be used well beyond participation in Accreditation.
To find out more about peer reviewing and the opportunities it brings, and how to express an interest in becoming a peer reviewer, please see: http://www.archives.org.uk/ara-in-action/archives-service-accreditation/peer-reviewers.html. If your expression of interest is successful, you will attend a training day before you begin peer review. The next training will be on 23 November 2018 in Birmingham. Please note that places are strictly limited, and restricted to those who express an interest in advance. We will continue to recruit peer reviewers to support Accreditation in the long term, so it is worth expressing an interest even if you are not able to join us on that date.
You do not have to be an ARA member to participate in peer review, nor do you have to be based in England, as long as you can realistically offer to peer review in at least one English region. Reasonable expenses will be paid for both training and validation visits, within the programme's budget. For more practicalities and details of how to apply, please follow the link above to further information from ARA.
