one-day workshop*
*Date: *Wednesday 5th December 2018
*Location: *Research Institute for Primary Care and Health Sciences, David
Weatherall Building, Keele University, ST5 5BG
*Cost: *£200 for those from academic institutions (includes lunch)
*Tutors: *Led by Dr Gareth McCray
*Deadline for registration: *25th November 2018
*This one-day introductory workshop on 'R' is aimed at individuals who are
already familiar with other statistical packages, such as STATA and SPSS
and have some statistical knowledge but little experience of using 'R'. *
You will be introduced to the basics of how to use R. During the course,
you will gain an understanding of the R Studio interface, data and data
object types, writing functions in R, and errors and warnings. You will
also explore how to perform basic statistical analyses and plots, including
parametric and non-parametric statistics, multiple linear regression and
logistic regression, and some advanced plotting.
The course will be made up of a mixture of lectures and computer practicals
in R, ensuring that you can learn how to use R with real datasets. Please
note participants are expected to know the underlying statistical concepts
as these will not be explained in detail.
You will need to bring your own laptop, with R already downloaded from the
R project website (*www.r-project.org* <http://www.r-project.org/>).
Instructions on how to do this will be sent in advance of the course.
