*The Burberry Material Futures Research Group is hosting a Symposium at The
Village Hall Battersea Power Station, London, on Friday 21st September
2018.*
The newly established *Burberry Material Futures Research Group* at the
Royal College of Art (funded by the Burberry Foundation) aims to* inspire
creativity and pioneer more sustainable materials and techniques in the UK
creative industries through researching the future of the sustainable
future materials, consumer experience. *By taking a *systems approach to
materials research* to propose new *realities* that re-couple use of
materials resources to human wellbeing and economic development, we aim to
help society transition to a more sustainable existence. Our systems
approach integrates three main themes, namely *Sustainable Future Materials*
, *Sustainable Future Manufacturing* and *Sustainable Future Consumer
Experience.*
The Burberry Material Futures Research Group will host an exhibition and
symposium to disseminate the insights from its scoping project, which is
Phase 1 of its operation. The scoping project was undertaken by a number of
people who are experts in the different topics in the themes. With these
insights we will develop a research programme for the next 3 years.
During the symposium a presentation will be given by each expert. After the
symposium, and during an informal lunch, we invite you to look around the
exhibition, talk with the scoping project researchers, engage in discussion
about developing collaborative projects with us, and post project ideas on
the ‘ideas wall’.
