Gutted that I cannot afford to attend this one but I have spoken at past NEMO conferences and I can testify as to their professionalism and relevance.

Especially gutted as the theme of this conference is one close to my heart: museums thinking outside the box and working with other sectors.

Do go if you can. You'll make highly valuable contacts and learn a great deal.

> Museums and their missions, responsibilities, and modes of engagement within their communities are in a constant process of transformation in response to social and economic development at local, national, and global levels. Inviting dialogue and cooperating with different sectors and getting out of their box helps museums to create new value, not only for themselves, but also for other sectors. The crucial role that museums play in a healthy and cohesive society is also reflected in the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018. Building a better future in Europe relies on engagement with our cultural heritage. The opportunities for influence museums have in this pursuit and the EYCH 2018 itself will act as central themes of the conference.
