Two job opportunities available within the SRUC Communications team. SRUC (Scotland’s Rural College) is a higher education institute dedicated to producing specialist research, delivering high quality education and providing comprehensive consultancy services in the rural sector within the UK and beyond. Press Officer (fixed 1 yr)
We are looking for an experienced press officer to help raise SRUC’s profile across a variety of media platforms. The chosen candidate will have a great eye for a story and the ability to create engaging, concise and accurate copy for a variety of external and internal audiences.
They will be able to write about a wide variety of research, agriculture and education topics, be brimming with ideas and have excellent contacts in the Scottish media and further afield.
In order to be considered, you should be educated to degree level in a related subject (preferably in PR, journalism). Applicants with equivalent experience of working in a press office of a large organisation may be considered. Experience of delivering internal and external communications and working with education and wider media within an education environment would be an advantage including delivering strategic communication plans and gaining positive media coverage.
The post will be appointed initially on a 1 year fixed term basis.

Change Communications Officer (fixed 2 yrs)
Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) is unique in Scotland and one of the largest organisations of its kind in Europe. Our ambitious and exciting vision is to work at local, national and international levels, leading innovation and sustainable development in agriculture and rural sectors.
SRUC has embarked on the delivery of its new strategy, with the ultimate aim of becoming a unique, 21st-century university. Effectively communicating key messages to a variety of stakeholders, including staff, students, Scottish and local government – as well as the wider agricultural community – will be vital.
Reporting to the Director of Marketing, Digital and Communications, the purpose of the role is to communicate the work of SRUC’s Transformational Change Project, mainly to internal audiences, but also to external audiences. It includes communicating workforce change, updates on SRUC’s People Strategy as well as property and campus development updates.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in communicating the changing face of SRUC.
In order to be considered, you should be educated to degree level in a related subject (preferably in PR, journalism). Applicants with equivalent experience may be considered.
The post will be appointed initially on a 2 year fixed term basis.
It is our intention to conduct interviews for shortlisted candidates during week commencing 29 October 2018.
