I recommend watching this 13 minute mind opener:
Motivational Story: The Story of Your Enslavement: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xbp6umQT58A
Rulers = farmers; Workers = cows; The role of freedom and taxation as well as fomenting in-fighting to discourage discussions of injustice. Cows that depend on the farmer, protect the farmer. . "To see the farm, is to be free of the farm?"...food for discussion. Not for the faint-hearted. Viewer discretion is advised.

Subject: Request for help: librarians fighting misinformation/fake news
The Open University (OU) is a partner in the EU-funded project, Co-Inform (http://coinform.eu/co-inform-project-kicks-off/). The aim of the project is to develop tools to engage citizens, journalists, and policymakers in fighting misinformation on social media.
In early October the OU is running a workshop with the aim of bringing together people from around the OU who are working in this area. I'm presenting for 15 minutes on what librarians and information professionals worldwide are doing to combat misinformation/fake news. I'm gathering examples to present and I'd really appreciate your input. I'm planning to mention:
* IFLA How to Spot Fake News infographic (https://www.ifla.org/publications/node/11174)
* London South Bank University conference on fake news (https://libguides.lsbu.ac.uk/llrblog/thisisnotafakeconference)
* The UK-wide Information Literacy Group (https://infolit.org.uk/the-role-of-information-literacy-in-the-fight-against-fake-news/)
If there are any other tools, projects or initiatives that I should mention, please do get in touch with me.
Many thanks in advance,
Helen

Hi Helen
Sound like a great workshop! The University of Sheffield Library has a fake news game, <http://www.librarydevelopment.group.shef.ac.uk/storyline/questioning/fake_news_game/fake_news_game%20-%20Storyline%20output/story.html>
created using Articulate Storyline.
Hope it is of use to you. If you want to know more the contacts are Caterina Sciamanna and Liam Bullingham, cc'd here for contact details.
Best wishes
Vicky
