Hi All,
I wonder if anyone can point me to (or tell me!) anything about George
Twigge who came from Butterton to the Penrhyn Quarry in 1845 and
successfully drove the quarry's drainage adit, as well as many of the
subsequent tunnels and shafts. He called himself a "Railway contractor"
and "Mining Engineer"in the subsequent censuses. He appears to have
worked for the quarry until at least 1876 before retiring back to Atlow.
Many thanks
Graham
