The teaching material will include themed examples spanning both clinical and public health research.
Day 1 will include: (1) Development of review aims and objectives, (2) literature searching, (3) study selection and (4) data extraction.
Day 2 will include: (1) Assessment of study quality, (2) evidence synthesis including meta-analysis, (3) interpretation of findings and (4) reporting of systematic reviews.
The course is suitable for those planning on doing systematic reviews and also anyone needing to evaluate and interpret existing systematic review evidence. Therefore this course is widely applicable to researchers, healthcare professionals and students.

Highly selective journals don't usually reject papers because of study results, yet too many researchers focus on their findings rather than their methods. Actually, editors give priority to ethically conducted and reported studies with good, answerable, research questions.
In this workshop, Dr Trish Groves will draw on nearly 30 years' experience as an editor at BMJ to help participants report research questions and methods (and, yes, results and conclusions) fully and with scientific and ethical integrity
