This is an open ended post subject to fixed term funding. Funding is available to 31 May 2022.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented and ambitious statistician/epidemiologist to work in a multidisciplinary research programme aimed at advancing understanding of the interaction between cancer and cardiovascular disease. The post holder, at Research Associate level (grade 7), will contribute to the development and application of statistical methods using the UK-first linkage of national population based cardiovascular and cancer audit data. The position will also involve working closely with the Principal Investigators (Dr David Adlam, Cardiovascular Sciences, University of Leicester, and Professor Mick Peake, UCLH), work package leads, and institutional partners at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Outcomes Research (NICOR) and the National Cancer Registration and Analysis Service (NCRAS) within Public Health England (PHE).
The post is jointly funded by the British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research UK programme "Cardio-oncology: A high resolution national electronic health record investigation of the interplay between cancer and heart disease".
ABOUT YOU:
You will have high-level expertise in biostatistics or epidemiology, specifically in areas including survival analysis, missing data methods, propensity scoring, matched studies and the analysis of large-scale electronic health records.
You should hold, or expect to shortly hold, a PhD (or relevant MSc plus equivalent extensive research experience) in a relevant area (medical statistics/cancer or cardiovascular epidemiology), have a good knowledge of statistical programming, evidence of research productivity (including high-quality research publications and presentations) and have experience of involvement in innovative, high-level research.
