Two PDRAs in Computational Stellar and Galaxy Cluster Physics
E.A. Milne Centre for Astrophysics, University of Hull

The E.A Milne Centre for Astrophysics is pleased to announce it is
seeking 2 Postdoctoral Research Associates (PDRAs) to join its rapidly
growing research team. Established in 2015, the Centre has grown from 0
to 35 staff and postgraduates, hosted the 2016 STFC Introductory Summer
School, the 2017 National Astronomy Meeting, and is a driving force
behind the upcoming British Science Festival. The Centre is a focal
point for STEM science and outreach across the north of England, and a
regional champion for widening participation and gender diversity.

These 3-year appointments are funded through the Centre's recent
STFC Consolidated Grant award; the successful candidates will have
access to 5-10 million core hours per annum on the University's
High Performance Computing Facility, viper.

One position (working with Dr Marco Pignatari and Prof Brad Gibson) will
be in the field of stellar evolution and nucleosynthesis, nuclear
astrophysics, and galactic chemical evolution; a second position
(working with Dr Elke Roediger) will be in the simulation of multiphase
gas in galaxy clusters, star formation, and the hot intracluster medium.

To discuss these roles informally, please contact Dr Marco Pignatari
([log in to unmask]), Dr Elke Roediger ([log in to unmask]), or
Professor Brad Gibson ([log in to unmask]). For further information and
application details, please see

https://jobs.hull.ac.uk/Vacancy.aspx?ref=3DFS0357 (Stellar Physics) or
https://jobs.hull.ac.uk/Vacancy.aspx?ref=3DFS0358 (Galaxy Cluster Physics).

The deadline for receipt of all applicant materials is 16 August 2018;
appointments as early as Oct 2018 will be possible.
