To: LES Academic and Research Staff
Good Afternoon
We are delighted to be able to inform you that the British Academy has recently launched a new international research funding programme – Global Professorships: https://www.britac.ac.uk/global-professorships-2018
The call for applications is currently open, with a closing deadline of Wednesday 12 September (17.00 UK time).
The Global Professorships provide world-class, internationally-recognised mid-career to senior researchers with the opportunity to be based for four years at a UK higher education or other eligible research institution of their choice. Global Professorships are available to academics currently employed in any country overseas, working in any discipline within the humanities and the social sciences.
Awards are intended for established scholars to support their individual research goals in the context of their UK host institution’s strategy. Each award is expected to involve a specific research focus, but the Academy does not have a preferred model for the balance of time to be spent between research and teaching, which may vary over the course of the award and depends on the UK host institution’s preference and needs.
We expect to award up to ten Global Professorships each year in the first three rounds of this programme (2018, 2019 and 2020). Funding of up to £250,000 per annum is available for the first three years of each award. The UK host institution is expected to commit to continuing the direct costs in the fourth year.
Please do share details of this opportunity with your university colleagues and contacts overseas. For further details, please see the ebulletin below.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Academy at +44 (0) 20 7969 5220 or [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>
Yours,
Ash Amin
