With apologies, the link given in the advertisement posted last Thursday was wrong. I am repeating the details of the advertisement, with the correct link.
Bath Record Office is looking for a qualified archive conservator to work on a project funded by the Wellcome Trust. The post is part-time (18.5 hours per week) for 21 months, from 1 September 2018.
The project will catalogue and conserve two collections: a small eighteenth and early nineteenth collection of volumes and papers, and a large and complex collection relating to Bath Waterworks dating from the eighteenth to the twentieth centuries and including volumes, deeds, papers, maps and plans, and a large amount of twentieth-century filing. Most of the conservation work will be preventative, with a focus on cleaning and packaging, but there will be a small amount of remedial work, particularly of maps.
The post is suitable for a newly-qualified conservator. The Record Office does not currently have a conservator and the successful candidate must be happy to work on their own with minimal supervision, although as part of the project a limited amount of supervision and advice will be provided by an experienced accredited conservator on a consultancy basis.
The post-holder will also be expected to train and supervise a very small number of volunteers, who will assist with cleaning and packaging.
The closing date for applications is midnight Sunday 15 July. Interviews will be held on Tuesday 7 August. We apologise for the long delay between the closing and interview dates, which is due to staff holidays.
