PhD position – Computational and statistical models for single-cell multi-omics data in immunology
An exciting opportunity is available at the University of New South Wales in a joint research project between the Systems Immunology group in the Kirby Institute and the School of Mathematics and Statistics.
Up to 2 PhD scholarships are available to undertake research on developing and applying cutting-edge statistical and computational models to learn the molecular pathways driving immune cells to a successful immune response against pathogens and cancer. This knowledge will inform novel immunotherapies for cancer and vaccines against significant pathogens affecting marginalised communities.
The scholarship is supported by the UNSW Scientia Fellowship Program, which include a PhD stipend up to AU $40,000 per annum, as well as tuition fees. The scholarship is up to 4 years.
The candidate will be working at the Viral Immunology Systems Program (VISP) at the Kirby Institute and will be in very close interaction with The School of Mathematics and Statistics,
The project is open to talented students form quantitative disciplines and with background in computationally based disciplines – computer science, statistics, mathematics, bioinformatics, physics.
Applicants must meet the PhD entry requirements of UNSW Australia, must hold an Honours degree or a research Masters degree, and must have a final GPA score for their undergraduate or Masters studies of at least 90% in GPA.
The applicants should also demonstrate active research activity with evidence of scientific publications.
