***Bayesian Spatial Modelling for Health***
This project will focus on Bayesian spatial modelling techniques to
examine the association between measures of population health (such as
hospitalisations and mortality) and socio-economic factors. This will be
accomplished by developing spatial and spatio-temporal models which can
allow for spatially varying coefficients, spatially adaptive priors, and
spatial quantile regression. This project will be co-supervised by Dr
Silvia Liverani (School of Mathematical Sciences) and Prof Peter Congdon
(School of Geography).
For further inquiries please contact Dr Silvia Liverani at

including support for 3.5 years’ study, additional funds for conference
and research visits and funding for relevant IT needs.
Deadline for applications: June 30th, 2018.
The application procedure is described on the School website:

The School of Mathematical Sciences is committed to the equality of
opportunities and to advancing women’s careers. As holders of a Bronze
Athena SWAN award we offer family friendly benefits and support
part-time study. Further information is available here. We strongly
