Responding from an open entry local TV festival here in Kosice, Slovakia - featuring many European students and early career filmmakers (including one or two U.K. entries ... the council’s intervention is appalling.
Reminds me of the suppression in the U.K. of screenings of Soviet films in halls and clubs in the ‘20s and ‘30s, particularly those circulating across Europe under the Comintern Cultural Policy. The reason them for council intervention was the fire risk of nitrate film stock.
Of course now as then the real fear is an outbreak of ideas
