CALL FOR SPEAKERS - UKSG E-RESOURCES FOR FURTHER EDUCATION 2018

Maximising value: learning resources and library services in further education

UKSG invites submissions for short presentations to be delivered at the 2018 UKSG
E-Resources for Further Education seminar in London on Wednesday 21 November 2018.

Each year this popular event, free of charge to FE staff, aims to bring together learning resources and library managers to share best practice and innovation in the management, delivery and support e-resources in further education.

This year the theme will be maximising value. Further education learning resources and library services continue to reinvent themselves and e-resources and technology provide new ways to demonstrate value.

We are looking for speakers to tell their stories of progress made and lessons learned. For example:
•	How have you demonstrated value to teaching staff or senior managers?
•	How have you compiled and communicated evidence of value?
• How do you make a business case for investment in new e-resources or systems?
•	Have you collaborated with other teams/roles in the college to provide seamless access to e-resources?
•	Do you have a case study on the successful introduction of a new e-resource, discovery service or reading list service?
•	How have you employed usage data to influence and inform decisions?
•	Have you used technology to engage new or hard-to-reach groups?

These are just suggestions – feel free to come up with your own ideas on the theme of maximising value of learning resources and library services for learning and teaching. We encourage stories of small or large change initiatives which enable other colleges to gain from your experience. Lessons learned are just as useful as success stories!

The event will provide participants with the opportunity to share tips, techniques and strategies which they can integrate into their own service.

Presentations should be 15 minutes in length plus 5 minutes for questions/discussion. We encourage speakers to be as engaging and creative as possible!

I have an idea, what should I do next?

Please submit your idea for your presentation as a short abstract of approx. 150 words. Please include your name, job title, organisation, contact email and phone number to: [log in to unmask] by 19 September 2018.  If you have any questions or would like to discuss your idea in advance of submission please contact Chris Balmforth [log in to unmask]

We will aim to notify the chosen speakers week commencing October 1, 2018.

Speaker slides will be made available after the event on the UKSG website. In return for their contributions, speakers will have reasonable travel expenses covered by UKSG.

Not submitting?

Then save the date - Wednesday 21 November 2018 – and share with interested colleagues. We need enthusiastic participants who are happy to join in the discussions, share ideas, develop learning opportunities and leave inspired with practical ideas to improve their service.  Booking details will be released in the autumn on the UKSG website.
