Very interesting to hear this. I've seen that claim about the '48 Nationality Act and Windrush in tens of accounts of this migratory history, often accounting for the hike in passenger numbers on Windrush as opposed to ships before or after. I wonder if it's possible that 'news' of the Act reached the Caribbean before the ship sailed, as opposed to it passing into official legislation?
