We are currently advertising a 2-year position for a Biometrician (Research Officer) within the Biometry Hub. It will be based at the Waite campus of the University of Adelaide, South Australia. The Biometrician appointed will mostly be working on the design and analysis of agronomic trials. In addition, there is also an opportunity to work on plant genetic data.

The Biometry Hub is a group of statisticians and computational biologists who are working closely with researchers in plant and animal sciences, agricultural sciences and microbiology. We are part of the GRDC initiative – Statistics for the Australian Grains Industry (SAGI-III), which provides support to GRDC funded projects based in the southern growing region of Australia.  The group are developing new statistical methods of experimental design and data analysis from complex experiments and field trials, providing training workshops and mentorship for researchers, providing data management for biological experiments and are engaged in intensive computing for genetics research, bioinformatics and analyses of large data sets. The Biometry Hub provides a unique inclusive collegial environment, enabling and encouraging everyone to develop their full potential and supporting group members with mentorship, professional development opportunities and on job training. 
The incumbent will be involved in the design and analysis of field and glasshouse experiments, report writing, participating in consulting meetings and other reasonable duties commensurate with the classification level.

Salary: HEO5/6 $63,808 to $83,548 per annum.

Superannuation: An employer contribution of 17% may apply.

Term of position: This fixed-term contract is available immediately for 2 years.

Eligibility Criteria:  Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science or Computational Genetics

Position requirements
To be successful you should have:
1.	Good understanding of the principles of design of experiments
2.	Good understanding of statistical model-based inference
3.	Familiarity with R and/or SAS or GenStat
4.	Well-developed writing and presentation skills
5.	Demonstrable ability to learn new computational and statistical methods in a timely manner
