There were some quite nice resources on this that were done for the RLO-CETL years ago but the website no longer exists :-( They had lots of great diagrams of bicycle pedals moving and arms lifting weights.
They are probably on some university server somewhere but I can't remember which university it was. Maybe someone else can?

Hi All
Does anyone know where I can access resources on the mathematical content for the field of Biomechanics, sport and exercise?
Regards
David

Hi David,
We have some material at http://mathsupport.mas.ncl.ac.uk/mediawiki/Biomechanics<https://internal.ncl.ac.uk/ask/numeracy-maths-statistics/biomechanics/>. We also have a bank of Numbas questions with biomechanics context, but they haven't been published publicly yet - I'll see if I can hurry that up.
Christian

As per Christian's reply, I should have sent this to the whole group I guess ...

David,
Try looking at my CAA system, maths e.g. - some of the mechanics questions were written in the context of sport and are used heavily by our Sports Science students.
See:
http://www.mathcentre.ac.uk:8081/mathseg/
Of course, lots of the basic maths stuff (numeracy and algebra - and stats) could be useful too!
I don't know if other CAA systems like Numbas or Dewis also have sporty questions - worth checking too.
All feedback gratefully received, including suggested topics to cover in the future.
Best wishes,
Martin
