IT Support position at Dept. of Astronomy, Stockholm University
Applications are invited for a permanent IT support position, part time
(80%) although full time employment can be discussed. Closing date for
applications is 20 June 2018.
The successful applicant will be part of a small team responsible for computing
support at the Department. We are an international department of approximately
80 persons and are active in research, education and outreach. The team's
duties include:
- specification, purchase, installation, configuration, day-to-day operation,
maintenance (hardware, firmware and software) and decommissioning of the
Department's workstations and servers, running mainly Debian GNU/Linux
- support and advice to members of the Department in computing-related matters
- acting as a liaison with the University's Division for IT Services
- supporting the Director and the Board in IT policy decisions.
The job calls for a broad range of skills. The main requirements are:
- strong analytic and troubleshooting skills
- prior experience in administering a network of multiuser Linux systems
- security awareness
- fluency in English, spoken and written.
