Postdoctoral Research for 4-year project in Evolutionary Robotics
Edinburgh Napier University, Scotland, UK
Start Date: from 1st August 2018
We are seeking a researcher to work on a project "Autonomous Robot Evolution: from Cradle to Grave" that will co-evolve robot morphologies and controllers in both simulation and hardware using 3d-printing. The post is part of a large multi-institution research project, supported by the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council.
This exciting collaborative project aims to develop an ecosystem in which robots are created through a series of steps that follow evolutionary processes, co-evolving morphology and control. These robots will be “born” through the use of 3D manufacturing, with novel materials and a hybridised hardware-software evolutionary architecture.
The role will be supervised by Professor Emma Hart.
