There are still a few places left on the ARA North West's 'Don’t Risk it! Know Your Records - Risk Registers' workshop.
1.00-4.00pm, 25 April 2018, Lancashire Record Office, Bow Lane, Preston PR1 2RE
This training is aimed principally at those working in a records management (RM), although it is also open to archivist and conservator members with an interest in RM issues.
Led by Jon Elliot, Head of Public Affairs, Archives and Records Association (UK & Ireland), the half-day workshop will focus on ‘Risk Registers’, the tool that most senior managers and Boards use to assess their organisations’ exposure to risk. The training will show how to build and populate your own RM risk register, promote the inclusion of RM risk factors in your corporate or organisational risk register (e.g. how to make them ‘Board-friendly’) and how to use a risk register to advance RM priorities more broadly.
Don’t Risk it! Know Your Records - Risk Registers will focus on practical approaches and provide you with bespoke materials. To get the most out of the session, you should seek access to your organisation’s own risk register in advance or (if you are do not have access) prepare a simple list of any RM-related issues that you believe could have serious financial, legal/regulatory and/or reputational consequences for your organisation.
To ensure concentration on the practical needs of individual attendees, this session will have a maximum limit of 15 people. To facilitate free discussion, the session will be social-media free, it won’t be recorded, and all participants will undertake to observe the Chatham House Rule.
