The three PhD students will join an interdisciplinary network across the
Universities of Leeds, Sheffield and York, benefiting from the support and
expertise of supervisors in Politics, Sociology, Criminology, Geography,
Media and Communication. Students will also have the chance to work closely
with civil society and local government partners. Each PhD will produce
new
and complementary
knowledge about the emerging frontiers, spaces and discourses of
contestation in
the aftermaths of
Brexit
, with a particular focus on the role of digital technologies. You can
read more about the network aims here
<https://newinsecurities.org/phd-opps/>, and further details of each
scholarship can be found on institutional sites.
We would be pleased to hear from excellent students with an interest in
critical approaches to contemporary migration, citizenship, and activism,
and in applying innovative digital methodologies to investigating these
issues. The scholarships would be particularly well-suited to students who
would like to gain experience of researching collaboratively with civil
society and voluntary organisations.
