We are verypleased to announce the call for papers for the special issue of Arts devotedto “Arts and Refugees: Multidisciplinary Perspectives”, guest editor MarcoMartiniello, Centre d’Etudes de l'Ethnicité et des Migrations (CEDEM), Facultyof Social Sciences, Liège University (Belgium).
Date of submission of abstracts: 30 April 2018
Deadline for manuscript submissions: 15 October 2018
Special issue information
The specialissue examines the relevance of artistic practices in current debates about theintegration of de facto refugees in Europe and also in the actual integrationof refugee artists in the social fabric and in the artistic scene.
Papers lookingat the role of arts (music, theatre, literature, etc.) in the solidaritymovements in favour of refugees in European cities are welcome.
Papers examiningthe trajectory of refugee artists and their strategies in order to claim aposition in their new society and their artistic scenes are also searched for.
The papers cancome from different disciplines and different theoretical perspectives (socialmovement theories, social mobilisation theories and cultural participationtheories), preferably with a comparative dimension.
Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline.All papers will be peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be publishedcontinuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed togetheron the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well asshort communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and shortabstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcementon this website.
Submittedmanuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be underconsideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers).All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-reviewprocess. Arts is aninternational peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI.
