Dear Andreas,
you can try the attached function from my TFCE toolbox that should do the job very fast. It only uses a masked-indexed image area and T- and F-statistics can be estimated. Simply ignore the last two parameters (vFWHM,SmMask) that are used for variance smoothing. You can check how this function is used by taking a look at cg_tfce_estimate.m:
