The University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, Institute for Jazz Research, is offering a provisional position beginning on 1 October 2018 and ending on 30 September 2019, for a
Guest Researcher: Senior Scientist (Post Doc) for Jazz and Popular Music Research
based on § 26 of the collective agreement for university employees, in the form of a fulltime contractual position. The minimum monthly salary for this position is at present 3.626,60 € brutto (14 payments annually). If need be, and on the basis of the collective agreement instructions, this amount could be increased through the crediting of specific prior experience.
General Employment Requirements
- completion of a doctoral degree in an appropriate professional study area
The position is meant to serve international research networking at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. Therefore, candidates should not have worked or lived in Austria for more than twelve months during the last three years prior to the application deadline for this position.
Special Employment Requirements
- clear and feasible concept of scholarly activities in the field of jazz and popular music research planned for the one-year stay (e.g., theoretical, empirical, or analytical studies, preparation of publications, preparation of research projects funded by third parties)
- very good English language skills
- publications in internationally acknowledged scholarly journals and/or publishing companies, at least one book publication as author is requested
German language skills as well as academic teaching experience are desirable, but no precondition of employment.
