It's a rather involved workaround, but assuming you have or can find the
appropriate software, you could set up a virtual machine (e.g., VMWare
Player 12, which is still available online - the current version, 14, does
not like some older hardware) and install a copy of Windows 2000 (which is
the last version of Windows that did not check with Microsoft for
authorization) on it. That should run the CD-ROM.
