The University of Brighton (UK) and its Centre for Spatial, Environmental and Cultural Politics invites applications for the following fully funded PhD project (UK applicants only):
'Climate (in)security: Exploring how environmental security discourses affect climate change campaigning in the UK'
Climate change has been named as a major security threat by a wide range of political actors, from military strategists to environmental groups. We are inviting proposals to explore the emergence of security as a central theme in climate change communication and environmental campaigning.
Using a range of qualitative methods, the research will address the possible implications of this shifting narrative of the ‘securitisation’ of climate change on climate campaigning and on policy agendas. We are particularly interested in proposals that investigate the communication strategies of non-governmental organisations and social movement groups.
Deadline: Friday 12 January 16.00 (UK time)
