The Marx Memorial Library is currently looking for volunteers to work 1-2 days per week assisting with our National Archives Cataloguing Grants Scheme funded project 'Volunteers for Liberty: The Archives of the International Brigades'.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain pre-course experience working on a large cataloguing project. The archive is a fascinating collection relating to the Spanish Civil War, the 2500 men and women who volunteered to fight fascism in Spain, and the Aid Spain movement that grew up in the UK in support of the Spanish Republican government.
Volunteers will be part of a dynamic team, working in our grade II listed building on Clerkenwell Green and supervised by our Project Archivist. Volunteers will:
• Assist with cataloguing printed ephemera at item level using MML's online cataloguing software Soutron
• Assist with re-packaging items in archival materials to ensure their long term preservation
We can cover travel expenses.
Please send your CV and a brief covering email to Meirian Jump, Archivist & Library Manager at [log in to unmask]
