If anyone would like to present a paper on archaeological education at
the European Archaeologists Annual conference in Barcelona in September
- please see our appeal for papers below.
Dear friends and colleagues,
We are preparing a session for the Annual Meeting of the European
Association of Archaeologists that this year will take place in
Barcelona (5th-8th September).
Our intention is to gather a series of 15 minute oral presentations
that address educational experiences around archaeology and heritage.
We are interested in those that go beyond curricular objectives and
that reflect the main aspects of the Faro Convention of 2005:
- recognition of civic and cultural rights,
- social cohesion
- and citizen participation.
We want to show how archaeological education, formal and informal,
brings added civic values to the formation of children and young
people, allowing for greater fostering of community cohesion in areas
of social diversity among the groups that currently shape European
society and helping to make communities more horizontally cohesive. We
are interested in trans-disciplinary, cross-cultural and
intergenerational experiences that promote values of equity in any
educational field and that show the potential of archaeology beyond its
disciplinary contents.
We would be delighted if you consider making a presentation in this
session or extending this invitation to colleagues and collaborators
who have relevant experience in this field. If you are interested in
participating remember that the deadline for sending in an abstract
(min. 200 – max. 300 words) is the 15th February and that they must
previously register as member EAA to be able to participate
(https://www.e-a-a.org/EAA2018/).
