I gather that loans to or displays in shopping centres are not an unusual ask, but there's the potential for a lot of security and conservation legwork, so although it's obviously worthwhile, as in the one above, there's probably a lot more work and expense than is conveyed in the word 'pop up'.
I seem to remember Chester (where the council/population are generally very culturally forward thinking and innovative) did a project a year or two back where individual items were on display in local businesses - and that obviously lends itself to further info through digital. I can't find a link though.
