Just to add to the conversation, not sure if helpful, but Art UK uses both:
e.g. https://artuk.org/discover/artworks/landscape-with-river-66373
However if you change the title the link will still break. It is useful to have the database ID at the end though for staff.

but also gracefully handle PreviousID -> ID
for moves
and “ID has been deleted” for deletes, for onward crawlers and harvesters as per OAI
and ideally, ID has some permanence in Real Life being the Accession or Reference that might be physically on the object or document and not the database number from the current CollMS
