Hi Henry,
Just wanted to let you know that the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) is using the SDGs in our science communications.
You might be interested in this edition of ‘Environmental Scientist’, which looks at the role of science & scientists in delivering the SDGs. https://www.the-ies.org/resources/science-without-borders
MSC has an article starting on page 48.

Dearest Pscicomm mailing list
Collab Lab have started making a podcast where we talk to notable (or at
the very least charming) people in the Sci-comms communities. We're doing
it partly for our own sake (it's deeply illuminating) and partly so that
newbies to the scicomm world can reap the fruit of others' experience in an
easy to share-and-consume format. So far we have three: Steve Cross,
Natalie Jonk and Elodie Chabrol:
https://www.mixcloud.com/collablab/
I consider you all the high-command of science-comms and I'd love to get
your feedback - is it listenable to? Is it interesting? Is it missing
something *crucial*?... and any expressions of interest if you think you'd
like to be on the podcast yourselves.
It goes very well with a backing track of christmas carols or Bing Crosby -
so if you had time to listen to one or two over a mince pie and let us know
what you think that would be fantastic.
Thank you all, on this grey and sleety morning.

Hello- out of general curiosity, could you let me know if you’re using the Sustainable Development Goals at all in your work, or connecting what you already do with that agenda. If you don’t know it it is the 17 Global Goals to transform our world [for the better] by 2030, so reducing inequalities, poverty, injustice, environmental damage, climate action etc etc.
The SDGs are a fantastic agenda to connect with, whether locally, globally or local–globally, and are widely understood across different sectors (research, funders, 3rd sector, policy makers and planners).

(click on the icons for more information, and there are about 170 targets, some of which relate very obviously to museums).

Hi Bill,
Late to the party, but at ZSL we recently did a sustainability audit where
we discussed these goals and how we can bring our education sessions and
the team itself more in line with them. At the moment we're doing a
sustainability drive in the education department to make sure we practice
what we preach. Feel free to get in touch if you want more info.

Hi Bill,
Late to the party, but at ZSL we recently did a sustainability audit where we discussed these goals and how we can bring our education sessions and the team itself more in line with them. At the moment we're doing a sustainability drive in the education department to make sure we practice what we preach. Feel free to get in touch if you want more info.

This is great to see Julie, thanks for sharing! Useful to also hear these other GDS/Global Goals ideas and resources.
This has prompted me to mention the International Schools Award https://schoolsonline.britishcouncil.org/about-programmes/international-school-award I’m sure some schools already use your resources towards the awards but there’s probably potential for more to do this.
If anyone on here has come across the International Schools Award or examples through science that may feed into the award then let me know since I’d be interested to hear.
Best wishes

Subject: The Science Of Santa @ Sunday Assembly London - THIS SUNDAY 17th DEC
Hello PSCI-Commers,
The Sunday Assembly London (www.sundayassembly.com<http://www.sundayassembly.com>) is having their annual non-religious celebrations of the festive season this week!
Sunday Assembly is like church but with no mention of religion and “better songs”. It aims to help everyone become the best version of themselves by encouraging you to “live better, help often & wonder more”.
I will be speaking about “The Science of Santa” this Sunday (17th) at Conway Hall, London – it’s a light-hearted, family-friendly talk that I’ve adapted from a Christmas lesson from when I used to be a Physics teacher.
And I might try to instigate an indoor snowball fight…
There will also be a live band & choir knocking out some Xmas hits. And of course, free tea, coffee and cake!
Hope you can make it.
https://www.facebook.com/events/1512572192156859/
Merry Xmas!
Russell

Subject: [PSCI-COM] The Science Of Santa @ Sunday Assembly London - THIS SUNDAY 17th DEC

Merry Xmas!
Russell

Subject: Re: Engagement manager opportunity at Angle Journal
The ambiguity is in the title: volunteer engagement manager.
That can be a
volunteer (engagement manager) - a volunteer who spends a bit of free
time improving engagement
or a
(volunteer engagement) manager - a professional manager with the job of
increasing the engagement of many volunteers in an organisation
