Role
Baker and Taylor is recruiting an Associate Library Cataloguer and Account Processor to support its Academic Library Services Operation.
Working in a commercial environment to create catalogue records to Library Cataloguing standard either from item in-hand or from online databases in support of 100% cataloguing and shelf-ready services.
Key Responsibilities
Create catalogue records for monographs and electronic resources in accordance with current standards such as MaRC21, UNIMARC, AACR2 and RDA.
Upgrading of LC CIP records to core level according to OCLC CIP upgrade specifications.
Assign DDC (23), LC and NLM classifications as appropriate including cutters – in some cases customized for a library’s collections.
Skills & Experience
Degree in Library Science or related experience.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of cataloguing rules; MaRC21, UNIMARC (desirable), AACR2, RDA and LCSH.
Experience of searching bibliographic databases.
A practical knowledge of LC and/or DDC.
Starting Salary £20,000 to £23,000 (depending upon experience).
Location
Didcot, Oxfordshire. Candidates will be expected to work from the office in Bicester for the first 2-3 months of employment.
