Triad has a fantastic opportunity for a GIS Specialist to join a prestigious organisation in Edinburgh. The role is a permanent one paying a salary of £24-£26k
Objectives of the role:
•Provide excellence in maintaining clients GIS service delivery, planning workloads and balancing resources to meet business needs
•Work with the GIS Team, the business and managing agents to ensure GIS data, analysis and outputs are delivered to appropriate timescales and quality
•Adhere to GIS processes, procedures, and ensure quality assurance are rigorously implemented
Key Tasks:
•Ensure GIS data, analysis and outputs are delivered to appropriate timescales and quality to meet business needs
•Adhere to quality control procedures for GIS analysis outputs
•Undertake spatial data collation, maintenance and versioning activities as required
•Preparation of updates to spatial datasets published by the client
•Understand and apply technology to achieve efficient and effective business results, promoting the value of spatial information
•Interpret a range of sources such as historic and contemporary maps and deeds, plans, coordinates, admiralty charts or aerial photography, to ensure records are maintained and impact to assets is better understood
•Create outputs using GIS analytical tools and functions by working with the business to derive appropriate layer weights and scores
•Readily identify opportunities to share knowledge, information and learning in working with colleagues
Candidate Specification
Knowledge and experience essential to fulfil the requirements of the post
•Excellent knowledge of the ESRI GIS products and processes
•Proven ability to interpret documents, deed plans, maps, and other technical documents used to identify property and establish property ownership
•Practical experience of producing high-quality outputs that deploy the most appropriate GIS tools and techniques
•An ability to present spatial data to promote understanding across a range of information users (both technical and non-technical)
•A degree in GIS or in related studies or relevant proven technical expertise
•Knowledge of Python scripting desirable
•Experience of third party terrestrial and marine datasets that provide information about uses and users of space
•Experience of relevant data standards, projections and their importance within GIS
•Good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook...)
