Dear colleagues and friends,
We are pleased to announce that issue n° 18 of EXPRESSION has just
come out. EXPRESSION is ATELIER’s quarterly magazine in Conceptual
Anthropology, a new interdisciplinary way to consider human nature
from early times to present: what can prehistoric cultures and current
non-literate societies tell us about ourselves?
This issue of EXPRESSION magazine is focusing on “Myths and memories:
stories told by pictures”. Are myths metaphors of memories? What can
early art, megaliths and other monuments disclose about their makers
myths and memories?
Myths define cultural identities and turn into collective memories to
be preserved for the generations to come. In this issue ten authors
from three continents consider how myths overcame time through art:
myths and memories have been carved in stone, painted on rock
surfaces…all around the world they preserve the immense sources of the
human imaginary.
The cooperation between ATELIER, the Research Centre for Conceptual
Anthropology and UISPP-CISENP, the International Scientific Commission
on the Intellectual and Spiritual Expressions of Non-literate Peoples,
of the International Union of Prehistoric Sciences, has offered
opportunities to colleagues and friends to find ways of discovering
each other and expressing concepts, experiences, queries, far beyond
the borders of their region and of their specific field of expertise.
The participation of authors and readers resulted in the growing
diffusion of ideas, of concepts, and of the quarterly magazine.
The last issue may be requested for free providing your full name and
postal address to <[log in to unmask]>. Comments and queries will
be welcome.
Cordial Regards,
Emmanuel Anati
