Senior Medical Statistician (131913)
Grade 8: Salary in the range of £39,992 - £47,722 per annum
We are seeking a Senior Medical Statistician to work jointly between the Rehabilitation Research in Oxford (RRIO) Group and Centre for Statistics in Medicine within the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS) based at the Botnar Research Centre, Oxford. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team of collaborators and to participate in strategic planning with the RRIO Group.
As a Senior Medical Statistician, you will collaborate directly in clinical research as the sole or senior statistical person; you will work with a multidisciplinary team to bring unique insights to the epidemiology of ageing and musculoskeletal health, through the development and application of existing and novel methods. You will also provide written statistical input into protocols and ethics committee submissions and you will contribute to the dissemination of research findings via peer reviewed publications and presentations at investigator meetings and national/international meetings.
You will hold a postgraduate degree in medical statistics or equivalent experience. You will have considerable experience of working as a statistician, including conducting consultations without further statistical support, designing clinical research, contributing to grant applications, active running of research, analysing data and paper writing for peer-reviewed journals. Proficiency in statistical programming, including at least one: Stata, SAS or R and demonstrable understanding of data protection and other statutory requirements and professional guidelines, such as ICH Good Clinical Practice guidelines are also essential. Experience of working with junior statisticians as well as planning, teaching, facilitating and delivery of formal training in medical statistics are desirable.
This is a full-time fixed-term appointment for 3 years.
