This may be flagrant and unforgivable list abuse, but has anyone noticed the new
'Range Rover Velar'? https://www.landrover.co.uk/vehicles/range-rover-velar/. I
honestly thought it was a satire at first. It's almost as if someone in marketing
half overheard a linguistics lesson and heard about the consonant in 'car'.
((Watch out for the next model, the Rrrrange Rrrrover Alveolar.))
I justify this daft email by suggesting it could be a useful teaching aide for
phonetics, especially at this point in the semester.
(Not long to go now....)
Seasonally yours (yo ho ho),
Dave
