We are inviting applications for a fully-funded PhD studentship from enthusiastic and dynamic individuals with excellent communication skills who have an interest in undertaking an international project in the resilience of city transport systems. The PhD offers significant opportunities to work with NYU in the city of New York. Applicants must have a strong academic track record in a numerate subject – including any area of engineering, computer science, data science or applied mathematics. Skills in programming, data analytics and modelling would be an advantage, as would relevant work experience in business, industry or cities.
The research project will be jointly supervised by Richard Bellingham, Director of the Institute for Future Cities and Dr Neil Ferguson, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The project will be undertaken as part of the CRESTD (City REsilience Systems Transport Doctorates) initiative which supports joint international research between the University of Strathclyde and New York University. External support for the project will be provided by Professor Kaan Ozbay of the Tandon School of Engineering and the Center for Urban Science and Progress (CUSP) at New York University (NYU). As part of this studentship, funding is available to support research exchange visits and workshop attendance at NYU.
