Apologies for the cross post - I thought this might be of interest for you:
Last night I launched a new project - www.migrationtrail.com
<https://www.migrationtrail.com/> - a mapped data visualisation and
podcast that follows two (fictional) migrants on their journeys to
Europe, in real time, over the coming ten days. The data visualisation
is based around a google maps style interface - slippy and zoomable. As
you zoom closer in, you get more personal data about the person and
their journey - where can they get wifi, how far can they continue to
travel before their phone battery runs out? Zooming out, you get the
bigger picture statistics about numbers of asylum claims, the challenges
of getting visas, that put all of this into context. We also have a
podcast (available via the menu on the site) which explores issues
around migration in greater depth. I hope you like it, and please share
it with any friends or colleagues who you think might be interested.
best wishes,
Alison
