In light of changes to our library management system we are taking the opportunity to review how we manage library membership here in Edinburgh. In particular we are looking at what proofs of identity we ask for. It would be useful to know what the practice is elsewhere.
Do you ask new library members to prove who they are and if so what kind of id do you accept?
Do you ask new library members to prove their current address – something which is often problematic and which can be changed by the library member themselves on some systems?
Do you require the same standard of proof for use of the People’s Network?
Thank you very much for your help and I'll be happy to report back to the list.
